About
Carna is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded by two DC high schoolers, Noémie Durand & Jean-Pierre Roberts, that works toward de-stigmatizing conversations about mental health and making information and resources available to everyone. Alongside affordable self-care items, Carna provides "Information Packets" containing tips, resources, mental exercises, etc. regarding mental wellness, such as meditation or self-confidence. We also have an active social media presence that starts conversations on important topics such as racism and coping with stress. Lastly, Carna is a place for people of all identities and backgrounds to communicate about their experiences and have a chance to help themselves, or someone else, bloom.

Carna is the Roman goddess who protects the vital internal organs, especially the heart.

She also helps the body take energy, strength, and good health from the food you eat.

Her name is derived from the Latin word "caro", meaning "flesh".

She had a sanctuary on the Caelian Hill, one of the 7 hills in Rome, which may have stood for up to 700 years.
We wanted a unique name that portrayed our mission, that can be found above or on our Instagram page.

Carna is often confused (or sometimes portrayed as the same person, see even we don't know) with the goddess Cardea, the goddess of door hinges (hence the badge names, if you happen to have noticed).
